Reverse dns zone not updating
As we noticed that only Windows 7 workstations with a static IP were being registered we started troubleshooting. As an AD guy I was 100% confident we could get this done using GPO’s.
Both are set to allow zone transfers between the two.
However in the past I have seen strange behavior with the GPO settings below Administrative Templates\Network\DNS client section, and today was just the same. Below Computer Configuration DNS Client there is a setting called “Register PTR Records”.
One could think that this is pretty easy to configure, enable, throw a gpupdate in and off we go.
Reverse delegations for IPv6 are based on the closest 4-bit boundaries.
The default prefix size for IPv6 delegations made are a /32 and /48.
